1. FUR FIGHTERS™ FAQ

What is Fur Fighters™ Hard Wax?
Fur Fighters™ hard wax is a fully customised high grade, professional hair removal product which doesn’t require a strip cloth and is suitable for all age, race and gender. Each respective wax variant is formulated to cater different types of hair and needs.

All Fur Fighters™ wax variants have a low melting point, which minimises the risks of users accidentally applying super hot wax on their skin. Its pliable trait is also able to reduce discomfort during waxing when it’s coupled with the right technique. The more pliable a wax is, the better it is at reducing pain.

Who is suitable to use Fur Fighters™ Blue Lagoon?
Fur Fighters™ Blue Lagoon is suitable for beginners due to its gel-ish formula and works great on coarse hair. It's semi-pliable and has a melting point of between 50 and 55 Celsius.

Who is suitable to use Fur Fighters™ Shimmer?
Fur Fighters™ Shimmer is an all-rounder wax perfect for anyone to use! It's pliable and great for coarse and fine hair. It's also perfect for those that have sensitive skin. It has a melting point of 45-50 celcius.

Who is suitable to use Fur Fighters™ Super Strong?
Fur Fighters™ Super Strong is great for stubborn and deep-rooted hair. It is the strongest and most pliable formula compared to the rest of the line-up. It also has a lower melting point of between 45 and 50 Celsius - which greatly reduces the risks of burning your skin.

What are the traits for Fur Fighters™ Hard Wax?
Our hard wax variants are:

- Professional salon grade

- Low melting points

- Hypoallergenic, making it very gentle to the skin, thanks to its natural ingredients like coconut oil, titanium dioxide and rosin

- Contains mica for that magical effect

- Very pliable, helps to reduce pain while waxing

Does Fur Fighters™ wax have an expiry date?
Yes. The shelf life of our hard wax is 36 months.

How long can a pack of Fur Fighters™ wax last?
Oh dear. This is subjective as it will depend on how thick you spread the wax, your waxing skill and technique. Naturally, new users tend to use more… but the better you get at handling the wax, the lesser the amount you will use.

Can I use Fur Fighters™ hard wax all over the entire body?
Yes, all Fur Fighters™ hard wax is versatile, it is suitable to be used on all areas.

Will waxing with Fur Fighters™ wax hurt?
This will largely depend on an individual’s pain threshold, technique and skill. If it’s your first time, it is natural to feel a slight discomfort as your hair follicles are still strong. But the pliability of Fur Fighters™ wax can certainly minimise the discomfort. Wax regularly to weaken the follicles!

How do I know if Fur Fighters™ wax is not suitable for my skin?
That's pretty easy! All our wax variants are hypoallergenic. But you can do a patch test on a small area 24 hours before the actual session to see if your skin is prone to irritation or not. If a hypoallergenic wax still triggers an allergic reaction, you may need to pay more attention to pre and post waxing care.

What’s the difference between Fur Fighters™ professional non-stick wax warmer and the Pro Wax 100 heater?
Our professional non-stick wax warmer is designed for convenience, safety and style. Its non-stick pot allows you to clean and also switch to a different wax effortlessly - simply peel off the excess wax and you’re good to go!

Its pot is also secured in its position, unlike the Pro Wax 100.

Meanwhile, the Pro Wax 100 requires a little bit of effort and manual labour to clean.

Both warmers, however, has the same 500ml capacity.

3. GENERAL

How does waxing work?
Easy - just melt, spread and strip it. You may refer to the directions of use and tutorial here and build your skill with practise.

How long must the hair be before I wax?
Your hair must be at least 1/4" long so that the wax has something to grip on. If the strip isn’t picking up the hair, it may be due to:
… you having a combination of hair type or lengths on the area
… too much skin build-ups like sebum and dead skin, making the wax grip onto the wrong surface instead of the hair
… too much moisture on the surface. Always prepare your skin well before and after each session.

How do I prepare my skin before waxing?
Exfoliate the area you wish to wax 1 or 2 days before a session to remove any dead cells and ingrown hair. Do not wax immediately as the skin will need to rest first.

On the day you’re scheduled to wax, wash the area with soap, water and towel dry. Apply some powder to eliminate any moisture before spreading the wax in the direction of hair growth. Once it’s dry, remove the strip against the direction of hair growth.

These basic steps are as important as having a good wax.

Do I need to apply powder before waxing?
We highly recommend it. Any type of wax does not like moisture, so if you are the type to perspire a lot, then use a little bit of powder and relax.

If your skin is dry, hard wax will likely stick to the skin/dead cells. So be sure to also hydrate yourself by drinking enough water prior to your waxing session.

How do I know whether the temperature of my wax is just right?
There is no specific temperature that you need to set your warmer to, but hard wax is at an ideal consistency and temperature when it is thick like honey. If it’s runny, that means it’s super hot!

Another way to know is when you can easily scoop it with a spatula.

Doing a patch test on the inner part of your wrist can also help you to determine if the wax is ready or not. If it feels too hot, leave it cool for a couple of minutes and do another test on your wrist again. If wax is not spreading easily and has a stringy texture, it is too cool and will need a bit more heating time.

I have sensitive skin, can I still wax?
You can... if it’s properly and carefully done! Waxing can be a great benefit to people with sensitive skin as it is gentler compared to shaving and applying chemical-ridden hair removal creams.

So, if you have sensitive skin, but would still like to get waxed, be sure to pay extra attention on pre and post-waxing care as it can minimise the risks of inflammation and so on.

My skin is currently irritable, can I still wax?
We don’t advise you to because it can further traumatise your skin condition. Do not wax if you:

have broken, irritated, inflamed, cut, or sunburnt skin

have been waxed within the last 24 hours

have varicose veins

have a rash, recent scar tissue, a skin graft, pimples, cold sores, moles, warts or fresh bruises

have undergone dermabrasion services within the past three months, laser skin resurfacing within the last year

have Botox or collagen injections performed within the last seven days

… are taking Accutane, or have stopped taking it less than 6 months ago

… are taking any topical or oral acne medication

… have Lupus or AIDS

… are undergoing cancer therapy, including chemotherapy or radiation

What is the correct technique when using hard wax?

If you are a new user, always focus on a smaller area first. Spread a thin, even layer in the direction of hair growth. An even layer strip reduces risks of it tearing midway during the removal process.

Making an even edge around the perimeter also eases the peeling process.

When applying, use an adequate amount of pressure to trap the hair within the wax. As soon as the wax has set, stretch the skin taut before removing it.

There’s still some hair on the skin after waxing, what can I do about it?
You can reapply on the same spot, no worries. It is perfectly NORMAL to have to reapply on the same area several times, especially if you’re still new to using pliable hard wax.

Even professionals have to repeat their applications when they’re dealing with a client who has an area with a combination of hair types, lengths and directions of growth. These are some of the things you would need to pay attention to. It’s also about luck.

No hair is being removed, what is going wrong?
Always go back to the general rules of waxing and make sure that all basic steps are adhered to.

Ensure your skin is clean and free from sweat, oils or any moisture so that the wax can adhere to the hair. The length of your hair should also be about 1/4" long to make sure that the wax has something to grip itself onto. If your hair is still short, grow it out. It is also important to exfoliate one day before the scheduled session. Failing to do so, the first few attempts will result in the dead cells being removed instead of the hair.

How can I repair or soothe freshly waxed skin?
There are many post-waxing products available at the drugstore. But our ultimate favourite is using some aloe vera gel after each treatment!

I experience irritation after using the wax, what went wrong?
There are many factors that contribute to this. Each case is unique but incorrect waxing techniques can, and will, cause reactions regardless of the brand you use.

As mentioned, it is advised to follow the basic waxing steps and do a patch test 24 hours before your scheduled session. For beginners, your legs are the best place to start practising your technique and build your confidence.

The wax residue wouldn't come off even after I washed the area with water, what should I do?
Hard wax is made from rosin, which is an oil-based product. This means you would need something oily - like coconut oil - to remove the residue from your skin. Don’t fret!

4. SHIPPING AND DELIVERY

How long is your fulfilment process?
When we receive an order, we try our best to process it immediately or within 24 hours to shorten buyers’ waiting time. On our part, we will try our best to get your parcel out fast, but once it has been collected by your preferred courier, it will then be their responsibility to deliver it to you safely.

How do you wrap your packages?
We secure all our parcels with bubblewraps and a fragile sticker with no extra charges. But do manage your expectation accordingly as online shopping comes with risks, like using a third party (your preferred courier) to deliver your goods. We cannot guarantee their way of handling the parcels.

Why does my order take a long time to be delivered to me?
So sorry! We don’t have the answer to this as it falls under courier operations, but we can check on your behalf and that’s our promise.

As you know, there’s a surge in online shopping which resulted in courier companies being overburdened with a high volume of parcels they need to process.

During this difficult time, if you manage to get your order early, it’s purely luck. So before proceeding, do take into your consideration all the risks that come with online shopping so you can manage your expectation better. Whatever it is, we will ALWAYS assist our customers in any way we can.

Thank you!
